Auckland first

Someone to say yes to.

Companionship matches people with someone to do things with. The Saturday walk, the film, the market, the beach. It isn't a dating app, and it doesn't ask you to go looking for a best friend.

The phone on this page is a working prototype. Tap through it. The people in it are examples.

Example people, example profile. Nothing here is saved.

From a yes to a meeting in four steps

Meeting a stranger shouldn't be a leap. Each step is small, and you can leave at any of them without giving a reason.

    1. Set up a small profile

Your name, age, suburb and a photo, a few lines in your own words about you, and a tap on the things you like: walks, markets, concerts, film.

    2. Say yes or not for me

Both people have to say yes before anything happens. A "not for me" is never shown to the other person.

    3. Leave a message

When you both say yes, leave a message. They reply when they can, and you agree a public place and a time right there. You can say "no thanks" to any invitation.

    4. Meet, then tell us privately

A public place, in daytime. Afterwards we ask you one private question: would you meet again? The other person never sees your answer.

    What it is

    • Company for ordinary things. The walk, the film, the market, the beach, when the people you'd usually go with are busy or away.
    • Any age, any stage. Partnered, solo, new to Auckland or between friends.
    • In person. You meet and do the thing together.
    • Message at your own pace. Make a plan when you're ready, not before.

    How it stays safe

    • A photo and a checked phone number at sign-up, with an optional selfie check for a verified badge.
    • Public places and daytime as the default for a first meeting.
    • A private check after each meeting. If someone keeps getting a no, we look at their account.
    • No pressure to meet. You can say "no thanks" to any invitation, as you would to a friend.
    • Report anyone who treats it as dating or makes you uneasy.

Be on the list when Auckland opens

We're starting in one city so there are enough people to make it worth using. Tell us a little and we'll let you know.

We'll only use your details to tell you when Companionship opens in Auckland. We won't share them, and you can ask us to delete them any time. How we look after them.

    What we collect
Your first name, your email, your suburb if you give it, and what you'd most like company for. Nothing else. Everything on the form except your name and email is optional.
    Why
To tell you when Companionship opens in Auckland, and to see where people live so we know where to start.
    Who sees it
Only us. We don't sell it or share it for advertising. It is stored with Cloudflare, who host this site, and their servers may be outside New Zealand.
    This page
It has no analytics or advertising trackers. The fonts load from Google Fonts, so Google can see that your browser visited, and Cloudflare keeps its own basic server logs.
